Rain Director Wins New Innovation Award

The winner of the first Homebuilding & Renovating Show Innovation Award, held over the four days of the National HB&R Show at the NEC last April, was the Rain Director®.

Judges David Snell from HB&R, Gary Wilburn of HPW Architecture (hpw.co.uk) and HB&R Editor-in-Chief Michael Holmes, selected the "intelligent" rainwater management system from a shortlist of nine manufacturers chosen to pitch their product "Dragons Den" style on the Big Ideas Stage.

"Few people realise that water shortage is one of the biggest problems facing us in the near future," commented Gary Wilburn, a Trustee of the Association of Environmentally Conscious Builder (AECB).

"Climate change will bring ever more frequent and unpredictable droughts. This product really helps address the problem by optimising the use of stored rainwater for flushing WCs, clothes washing, garden use etc., whilst utilising mains water only as a back-up where necessary."

The Rain Director® is a plug and play system that manages our unique Smart Header Tank and the pump that fills it from the outdoor rainwater harvesting tank. It costs less than £0.01 per person per day to run and can be integrated with a harvesting system from any manufacturer. Efficient use of rainwater is an integral part of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Every year RainWater Harvesting Ltd attends some of the most prestigious exhibitions dedicated to home builders, housing developers and home improvements.
